How to Clean Chrome With Toothpaste
Chrome plating adds a shiny, mirror-like finish to any metal fixture. Because chrome is often used in damp areas where spotting can occur, such as kitchens, bathrooms and on automobiles, chrome requires frequent care and cleaning to maintain its shine.
Regular toothpaste's mild abrasive qualities make it an ideal chrome cleaner. The gentle scrubbing action can remove stains and spotting without harming the mirror-like finish.
Things You Will Need
- Toothpaste, non-gel
- 2 soft cloths
Warning
Do not use gel, whitening or tartar-control toothpastes on chrome or other metals. Gel is ineffective, and the others are too harsh for some metals.
-
Apply a dime-sized amount of regular, non-gel toothpaste to a soft, damp cloth.
-
Rub the toothpaste onto the chrome in a thin, even layer.
-
Buff the chrome with a clean, dry cloth until it shines.
