How to Use Salt to Soften Jeans
Some jeans have a rough texture when they are new. This can cause irritation to the skin, which can be quite uncomfortable. With constant wear, jeans may become more softer and more relaxed, but it may take a long time for them to do so. In the meantime, you can use salt to get a softer texture.
Salt is an easy and affordable way to get your pair of jeans soft enough for a comfortable wear.
Things You Will Need
- Salt
- Water
- Container
-
Pour 1 cup of regular table salt into a container with 1 gallon of water. Place your jeans in the container and let them stay for two to three hours.
-
Remove the jeans from the salt water. Ring the water out of the jeans and rinse out the salt with cool water, then allow them to dry thoroughly.
-
Add 1/2 cup of salt to your washing machine with detergent if you prefer not to use a container. Wash and rinse the jeans as you would normally do when doing your laundry, then let them dry.
