Things You Will Need
- Towel
- Pencil eraser
- Paper towels
- White vinegar
- Soft cloth
- Wire suede brush
- Lukewarm water
- Dish soap
- Bowl
Tip
You can use the same method to remove ketchup stains from your other suede clothing. Just be sure to never get your suede wet so that you don't cause damage.
Clean Suede With Vinegar
-
Rub the stained suede with a towel to help raise the fibers in the fabric.
-
Remove a dry ketchup stain by gently rubbing a pencil eraser on the suede. If the ketchup is still wet, use dry paper towels to blot it up. Continue to replace the paper towel and apply gentle pressure until the stain is no longer wet.
-
Dampen a soft cloth with some white vinegar and gently rub the boots to remove any remaining stain. Allow the vinegar to dry completely and then use a wire suede brush to brush your boots.
Clean Suede Using Dish Soap
-
Combine lukewarm water and one teaspoon of dish soap in a bowl. Mix vigorously until soap bubbles form on top of the water. Add more dish soap and stir again if you are having trouble making enough soap bubbles.
-
Use a soft cloth to apply the soap bubbles to the stained suede. Do not soak your cloth in the water and only allow the soap bubbles to touch your suede. Avoid getting your suede boots wet to prevent damaging the material.
-
Rub the soap bubbles into the stain gently and add more soap bubbles if needed. Continue until the stain is completely removed and then allow your boots to dry completely.
