How to Adjust the Legs on a Galant Desk From IKEA

Maxwell Payne

Galant is a line of desks from IKEA. There are two primary types of Galant desks: One has two legs, and the other has four angled legs. Both types of legs are adjustable. Whether you need a higher or lower desk to fit your needs, the legs offer a range of height options and require no special tools to adjust.

Two-Leg Galant Desk

Step 1

Insert the tip of an Allen wrench into the adjustment hole about halfway down one of the legs.

Step 2

Turn the Allen wrench clockwise slowly while your helper lifts the top of the table and holds it so the leg's "feet" are off the floor.

Step 3

Grasp the feet and rotate clockwise to raise the table and counterclockwise to lower it.

Step 4

Reinsert the Allen wrench and tighten.

Step 5

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 on the other side of the table, verifying that both legs are even.

Four-Leg Galant Desk

Step 1

Grasp the bottom of one leg with your hand near the "foot."

Step 2

Have your helper lift the top of the table slightly to facilitate easier adjustment.

Step 3

Twist the bottom of the leg counterclockwise. You will feel the bottom tubing slide out of the top portion of the leg. Push the bottom portion up to make the table lower or pull it down to make the table higher.

Step 4

Twist the bottom of the leg clockwise to lock once you reach the desired height.

Step 5

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the remaining three legs until the table is even.
