Measure the space that you plan to cover with shelf liner. If there are multiple areas, it may be helpful to keep a list to stay organized.
Lay shelf liner paper on a large, flat surface and cut it according to your measurements. Most shelf liner paper contains a grid on the back of the peel-off paper that aids in maintaining straight lines while cutting. Be sure to keep the peel-off paper backing on while cutting, or the paper will roll up and stick to itself and become difficult to cut.
Clean and dry the shelf or surface before applying shelf liner paper.
Install the shelf liner by slowly peeling off one corner of the backing, and pressing it into the corresponding corner of your work area. Press down on the shelf liner as you go, smoothing out bubbles and wrinkles.
Repeat the process until you have covered all of the areas.
Smooth the surface of the shelf liner one final time with a wallpaper smoother brush to get rid of any residual bubbles, lines or wrinkles.
