A vinyl fence can be an attractive, easy-to-maintain way to make your home more private. Vinyl fencing does not rot or fade in the sun like wood can, and is crack- and chip-resistant. You do need to protect your vinyl fence from heat sources to avoid melting. Taking care to install your fence properly and keeping it clean can protect the structure from problems as well.
Protect your vinyl fence from future damage from snow, wind or hail by making sure you have installed the fence correctly. According to RightContractors.com, vinyl fencing is low-maintenance and not easily damaged by weather conditions. However, if the components are not tightly fit together, they may be more likely to break or crack in unfavorable weather. Keep your yard clean by discarding leaves, mulch and other debris in lawn bags. Yard waste is highly combustible and can cause damage to your vinyl fence if a fire starts near the structure.

Clean your vinyl fence regularly to protect it from mildew, and also to remove mold and dirt. Mold may appear more often in damp, unsanitary conditions, but may be inhibited when dirt has been removed from the fence. Mix together 1/3 cup laundry detergent, 1 quart of bleach and 3 quarts of water. Wash your fence with a sponge to remove molds and dirt. Dry the fence with a towel when washing on a cloudy day.
