Interior Cavity Light

Unplug the microwave from the electrical source. Overhead mounted microwaves are often plugged into a socket that is mounted inside the cabinet above.

Review the replacement parts list for the specific model of Whirlpool microwave oven you are using to find the right variety and strength of light bulb used to light the interior cavity.

Pull off the vent cover above the cavity on the microwaves exterior to expose the two screws holding the vent in place. Remove these two screws so the vent can be tilted forward and lifted out. Set the vent aside.

Lift the flat piece of metal covering the light bulb out of the way so you can unscrew or pull out the old bulb.

Snap or screw the correct replacement bulb into the wired socket and replace the cover plate.

Slide the vent back on and secure it by replacing the two screws. Line up the vent cover and press it back onto the metal clips. Plug the power cord of the Whirlpool microwave back in.
Exterior Cooktop Light

Unplug the microwave from the electrical source. Overhead mounted microwaves are often plugged into a socket that is mounted inside the cabinet above.

Review the replacement parts list for the specific model of Whirlpool microwave oven you are using to find the right variety and strength of light bulb used to light the external cooktop.

Unscrew the single screw holding the light cover in place on the underside of the Whirlpool microwave. Set the light bulb cover aside.

Snap or screw the correct replacement bulb into the wired socket and replace the cover plate.

Replace the light bulb cover and secure it with the single screw and plug the Whirlpool microwave back in to the electrical outlet.
