Sweep the tiles to loosen and remove soil. Lift as much abrasive grime as possible from the area with a broom and dustpan.
Fill a mop wringer bucket with 2 gallons of fresh hot water. Squirt about 1/2 tsp. of dish detergent into the bucket.
Pour 2 gallons of plain hot water into an ordinary cleaning bucket for rinsing.
Submerge a mop into the hot, soapy water. Wring out the mop, and then slowly mop the streaky ceramic tiles in smooth, even movements. Focus on only a 3- by 3-foot section of tiles at a time.
Thoroughly rinse the clean 3- by 3-foot area with plain water to prevent streaks.
Wipe the damp 3- by 3-foot area with a clean dish towel until it is completely dry. Promptly drying the tile prevents streaks due to mineral deposits.
Clean each remaining 3- by 3-foot section of streaky ceramic tiles using the same techniques. Immediately rinse and dry the tiles after cleaning them. Replace the detergent solution and rinse water as they become cloudy.
