Why Doesn't the Frigidaire UltraQuiet II Dishwasher Drain?

Frigidaire, a division of Electrolux, offers consumer appliances, including dishwashers.

Hoses/Air Gap

Certain models feature the UltraQuiet II sound package, which reduces the amount of noise that you hear. A common problem with Frigidaire dishwashers is that water doesn't completely drain from the tub. Troubleshoot this issue, and avoid service fees by repairing the problem yourself.

If your Frigidaire UltraQuiet II dishwasher isn't draining, check the drainage hose. If the hose is kinked, straighten it. Replace the hose if it's badly kinked or crushed. Manually remove the water from the tub, and remove the drainage hose. Dig out any clogs with a plastic utensil. Clean out the air gap, which is located near the sink. If you don't have an air gap, install a high drain loop. Attach the drain hose to the underside of the cabinet, and only install up to 20 inches above the ground. This keeps water from the sink out of the tub. Always attach the drain hose directly to the home drain or to an air gap.

Food Waste Disposer/Internal Plumbing

Run the food waste disposer if it's connected to the dishwasher. If you just installed the disposer, remove the knockout plug. Check your home drain, and see if it's clogged. Clean out your home plumbing with drainage cleaner or tools. If the clog is deep down in the drain, contact a plumber to assist you.

The pump is responsible for pumping water out of the tub and into the drain. It is located underneath the bottom rack, spray arm support and spray arm. Remove these components, and see if food particles are trapped in the pump. Clean out the pump with a plastic utensil. Examine the pump, and see if any components are broken. The impeller looks like a fan with blades, and this part often breaks. If any part of the pump is broken, get a new one from a Frigidaire parts dealer. You usually can't repair this part.

Check Valve/Filter

A Frigidaire UltraQuiet II dishwasher has a check valve located within the drainage hose. This valve opens up to let water out and closes to prevent water from reentering the tub. If the valve is stuck, water won't drain from the tub. Clean out the valve, and remove any items preventing it from freely opening and closing. If the valve is defective, get a new one. Clean the filter located on the base of the tub. Water will drain slowly or not all if this part is clogged with debris.
