Things You Will Need

  • Ketchup
  • Cleaning rag
  • Water

The slight acidic quality of the ketchup cleans the brass and gold wonderfully without causing any harm to the surface.

  1. Squirt a spoonful of ketchup onto a dry cleaning rag. Work the ketchup into the gold or brass surface.

  2. Leave behind a thin coat of the ketchup. Let it sit for a minute or so.

  3. Rinse the cleaning rag and wring it out. Wipe the brass or gold to remove the excess ketchup. Continue until you have removed all the ketchup.

  4. Buff the gold or brass dry with a clean, dry rag to achieve a clean, polished shine.
