How to Remove Hair Color from a Floor

Wipe up as much of the hair dye as possible, using absorbent cloths that you don't mind staining. The faster the dye is wiped up, the easier it will be to remove the remainder of the dye from the floor before it has time to set.

Dampen a cleaning sponge with water and wipe the stain, using the scouring part of the sponge.

Mix together 1 tbsp. dishwashing liquid and 2 cups warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and apply to the hair dye stain. Wipe in circular motions. You may need to use more than one cloth if the cloth becomes saturated with the dye. Repeat until the stain is removed from the floor.

Use a stain erasing sponge if any trace of the hair dye remains. One brand name is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Dampen the sponge with water and use to scrub the stain.

Combine 1 tbsp. baking soda with ½ cup vinegar to create a thick paste. Apply to any stubborn hair dye stains and let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Repeat as needed.

Dampen a clean cloth in warm water once the stain is completely removed from the floor and wipe away any remaining cleaning product or residue from the floor. Dry with a clean, soft towel.
