How to Remove Hair Dye From Hardwood Floors
You've just dyed your hair and you're more than happy with the results. You're just about to style your new 'do when you look down and, to your horror, see a big drop of hair dye on your shiny hardwood floors. Before you panic, follow these simple steps and in no time at all, your wood floors will be back to normal.
Things You Will Need
- SOS pad
- Water

Wet the SOS pad with lukewarm water. Do not drench the pad in water; you only need to slightly dampen it.

Remove excess water. Twist or squeeze the SOS pad to release any unneeded moisture.

Locate the stain. Carefully place the SOS pad on the spot so that the wood becomes slightly wet.

Rub the stain gently with the SOS pad. Apply light pressure and avoid pressing the pad down into the floor. Continue rubbing until the stain is gone. You should see it lighten and then disappear as you rub.

Wipe the spot clean with a paper towel or cloth. The SOS pad will leave behind residue, so you will want to clean the area immediately after you remove the stain.

When the above instructions are followed properly, the SOS pad will not scratch your floor. However, if too much pressure is applied to the sponge or you scrub the stain too hard, scratches are possible, so be sure to use light, gentle strokes when you're rubbing the stain.
