Buy the products to remove gnats at any general merchandise store. Contact your veterinarian for topical flea medication.

Things You Will Need

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Topical flea medication
  • Flea powder or carpet spray
  • Bleach
  • Measuring cups
  • Spray bottle
  • Paper towels
  1. Remove trash bags, rotting fruit and old food from the room.

  2. Sprinkle flea powder or spray flea killer on carpets and floors. Leave it for about 15 minutes. Run the vacuum over the floors and carpets. Set the vacuum to its lowest settings to vacuum uncarpeted floors.

  3. Apply topical flea medication on any dogs or cats in the house. Reapply once a month.

  4. Wash blankets, bedding and other items that pets lay on or that are soiled.

  5. Pour 1/4 cup of bleach into a spray bottle. Add 1 cup of water to the spray bottle. Double or triple the amounts as needed. Screw on the lid. Spray down counters, tables, sinks, grills and stovetops with the bleach water. Wipe clean with the paper towels.

  6. Pour 2 cups of straight bleach down drains.
