How to Clean Aluminum Window Frames With Mineral Oil

Unpainted aluminum frames will also show dirt, grime, dead bugs and tree sap. Using mineral oil on aluminum windows will not only clean away the rust, it will also leave behind frames that are shiny, bright and free of dead bug carcasses.

1. Prepare a mixture of 1/2 cup white vinegar, 3 tbsp. liquid dish soap and 1/2 gallon warm water in a plastic bucket.

2. Soak a household sponge with the mixture and use it to wipe down the aluminum window frame. This mixture will remove any built-up dirt or mud, which will aid in the removal of any rust or other difficult stains.

3. Rinse off the aluminum frames with water and allow them to dry completely.

4. Soak a household sponge with a liberal amount of mineral oil.

5. Rub down the entire surface of the aluminum frames with the mineral oil, paying attention to any areas that are covered with rust or difficult stains, such as tree sap.

6. Allow the mineral oil to remain on the frames for 30 minutes, which will give the oil time to penetrate the rust and stains.

7. Rinse off the mineral oil with cool water.
