Regardless of the cycle settings you choose, the best results will come from knowing how to properly load and run the dishwasher.
Things You Will Need
- Rinse aid
- Automatic dishwashing detergent
Load the Dishwasher
-
Scrape or rinse all hard objects and the majority of the food soil from the dishes prior to loading them.
-
Load dishwasher-safe plastic items, cups and glasses into the upper rack of the GE Nautilus dishwasher. Place all items face-down.
-
Load larger dishes, like pots and platters, in the back or along the sides of the lower rack. Other items, like plates and saucers, also belong on the lower rack, with the dirtiest side facing the center of the unit.
-
Load silverware in the basket. Knives and forks should go handle-up, and spoons should go handle-down. Keep the items mixed so like utensils don't nest into each other.
Fill With Rinse Aid and Detergent
-
Check the rinse aid dispenser. Turn the cap counter-clockwise to remove it, then look inside. If the level is low, pour rinse aid into the compartment, then place the cap back on the dispenser and turn it clockwise to secure it.
-
Pour automatic dishwashing detergent into the main cup of the detergent dispenser. Follow the directions on the detergent to determine the proper amount. Close the dispenser.
-
Pour additional automatic dishwashing detergent into the open cup if the cycle you plan to run a cycle with two washes.
Start the Cycle
-
Select the cycle you wish to run. Options include "Normal Wash," "Heavy Wash" and "Rinse Only."
-
Choose the energy option you wish to use, including "Hi Temp Wash" or "Heated Dry."
-
Twist the dial to "Start" or "On."
-
Flip the door latch to the locked position to start the cycle.
