The Touchpad Is Not Working on My Kenmore Dishwasher

If the touchpad on the control panel is not working, there are a variety of possible reasons why.

Control Lock

The dishwasher control panel can be locked to prevent children or others from using the dishwasher when unsupervised. This control lock will prevent the touchpad from working on the control panel. To disable the control lock, press and hold “Control Lock” for three seconds until the control lock light turns off. To restore the control lock, press and hold “Control Lock” for three seconds until the control lock light is illuminated.

Cycle in Process

If the dishwasher is in the middle of a wash cycle, the touchpad will not work on the control panel. To stop or cancel the current wash cycle, press “Cancel/Drain” once and keep the dishwasher closed. This will begin a drain cycle to remove any excess water from the bottom of the tub. The drain cycle has finished when the “Cancel/Drain” light goes off. The touchpad can be operated at this point.

Dirt or Debris

If the touchpad becomes dirty or sticky, it may not operate or may stick in position. Dampen a clean cloth and wipe down the touchpad. Follow this by wiping it with a clean, dry cloth. Only use the touchpad with clean hands and wipe away any food debris or spills to prevent substances from hardening or sticking to the touchpad.

Reset

If other troubleshooting methods have not resolved the problem and the touchpad is still inoperable, reset the dishwasher. Press “Cancel/Drain” and disconnect power to the dishwasher when the cycle is complete. Wait 30 seconds then restore power. This should reset the dishwasher control panel.
