How to Assemble a Jenny Lind Crib
A Jenny Lind crib is one of the most popular forms of cribs available today. They are sturdy, convertible, and easy to assemble. If for some reason the instructions for the crib have gotten lost, there is no need to worry. It is easy to figure out how to construct the crib without having the original instructions.
You should be able to put the crib together within one hour. It may take longer if you have to search for parts. However, you will soon have a long-lasting crib that will easily last as long as your child needs it.
Things You Will Need
- Jenny Lind crib
- Jenny Lind crib hardware
- Phillips screwdriver
- Pliers
- Hammer
- Drop side rod
- 2 springs
- Crib mattress
Tip
It is possible to order missing pieces or hardware from the Evenflo website. When attaching the mattress support, it is best to have a buddy help.
Warning
Do not place the full weight on the crib on your body.
-
Gather all the hardware together that came with the crib. It is important that you have everything that you need before starting. If you do not have a list of materials, go online to the Evenflo website and get the necessary information.
-
Screw the L brackets and latch brackets into the left sides of the head boards. Lay the boards on the ground for this step. Do the same thing for the right sides of the foot board. Make sure the latch parts of the latch brackets face inside the crib.
-
Attach the stationary rail by inserting the cross dowel through the top hole of each head and foot board on the same side that you attached the latch brackets to. Place the dowels into the bottom of the boards and rail as well. Screw all the screws tightly.
-
Assemble the mattress support by screwing in the metal hangers into the steel mattress support. Use the ½-inch screws and nuts for this step. Tighten the nuts with pliers. Do the same thing for all four sides of the mattress support. Set the support inside the crib area and slide the hangers into the steel slots located on the bottom of the crib legs. Make sure to align all four hangers on the same level.
-
Place the pins attached to the drop side rail on the latch brackets on the two sides of the crib. Insert the drop side rod into the holes in the crib until it rests on the latch bracket. Slide a bumper spring between the latch bracket and drop side rail. Continue running the rod through the holes in the crib until it reaches the floor. Slide a large spring over the bottom of the rod and let rest just above the bottom hole. Screw the top of the rod into the head board of the crib. Place the mattress on the bed. You have now constructed a Jenny Lind crib.
