How to Change Footboards on Beds
Footboards are either simple or ornate and generally made from either wood or metal. Most of the time, they come with matching headboards. Changing the headboard and footboard on your bed gives your room a different look. All replaceable footboards attach the same way, using brackets. The brackets are secured to the bed frame's rails, and the footboard is secured to the bracket. Since there is a footboard already secured to your bed, use the same bracket when installing your new footboard.
Step 1
Use a wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the old footboard's sides in place. Set the bolts, washers and nuts in a safe place so you do not lose them.
Step 2
Lift the old footboard away from the bed. Position the new footboard at the bed's end. Line up the brackets' holes with the holes on either side of the footboard's legs.
Step 3
Push two bolts through the lined-up holes on both of the footboard's legs. Slide the washers over the bolts. Screw on the nuts and tighten them to hold the footboard in place.
