How to Remove Mouse Glue From Carpet
Glue traps provide a nontoxic, non-messy way to eliminate rodents from a home. The strong glue used in these devices to trap mice is difficult to remove from other items in a home such as carpets or rugs. The key to completely removing the glue from the carpet is to treat the stain immediately.
Things You Will Need
- Butter knife
- Vegetable oil
- Peanut butter
- Soap
- Water
- Brush or sponge
- Towel
Since the glue does not completely dry, delaying treatment only allows it to set in further and possibly get ground in by foot traffic.
-
Slowly pull the glue trap away from the carpet. It helps to use a butter knife to scrape the carpet fibers away as you pull the glue trap off.
-
Apply a small amount of vegetable oil or peanut butter to the glue stain, and allow it to sit for a few minutes.
-
Use a butter knife to remove as much of the peanut butter or vegetable oil as possible.
-
Apply a soapy solution of water and liquid detergent to the area, and scrub it with a brush or sponge to remove the remaining oily residue from the carpet.
-
Rinse the sponge in clean water, and remove as much of the soap residue as possible.
-
Blot the area with a towel to remove excess moisture, and allow the carpet to dry.
