How to Drill Holes in IKEA Furniture

Step 1

Remove any books, clothing or other objects from the piece of IKEA furniture.

Step 2

Mark the area where you want to drill the hole with a pencil. If available, place an IKEA drill template flat against the furniture and use it to mark the drill holes.

Step 3

Attach a straight wood drill bit to an electric drill. The size drill bit depends on the size hole you need to create. For example, use a 1/8-inch drill bit to drill a hole for a No. 6 screw.

Step 4

Hold the drill bit over the marked spot at an angle of 90 degrees, and then drill a hole in the furniture.
