How to Clean a Rattan Area Rug
Rattan area rugs are high-quality, durable flooring options that can protect hardwood floors while adding an additional design element or splash of color to a room. These thin rugs fit nearly any decor, and are woven with small nylon fibers that are designed to withstand years of wear and tear without deteriorating the quality of the rug. Cleaning the rugs is an easy task, requiring a cleaning procedure similar to the way any basic carpeting would be cleaned.
Step 1
Vacuum the rattan area rug regularly to collect loose dirt and debris that is tracked across the rug.
Step 2
Pour a cup of warm water into a dish, along with one squirt of clear liquid dish soap. The dish soap will allow you to spot clean the rug without damaging the fibers of the rug.
Step 3
Dip a cloth into the soapy water, wring out excess moisture, then wipe over the rug where needed to remove spots, stains and buildup.
Step 4
Blot dry with a clean cloth to absorb any excess moisture after cleaning.
Step 5
Take the rug to a professional cleaning facility if a basic soapy water solution does not clean the rug to your satisfaction.
