How to Load a Maytag Dishwasher Rack
Owning a dishwasher makes life a lot easier, and it sure beats washing the dishes by hand. However, to ensure that dishes are clean, they must be loaded properly. Maytag is a popular brand of dishwasher and can be found in many homes. To extend the life of your dishwasher and to avoid cleaning after the dishes have been washed, the proper loading and cleaning techniques must be used.
Rinse all dishes before loading them into your Maytag dishwasher. However, it is not necessary to pre-wash the dishes. According to a Maytag repairman, if dishes are too clean, it can cause etching from the dishwasher soap. The detergent needs to have something to cling to.
Load the top rack. Glasses should be loaded on the top rack using the prongs that stick up from the rack. Maytag racks also have tilted raised sections on one side of the upper rack. This can be used for bowls or other objects such as tongs that might need to be laid down horizontally. Smaller plates can also be placed between the upper rack prongs when there are no glasses to be washed.
Fill the lower rack with plates. Place all silverware into the container that is included on the bottom rack. Maytag makes this dishwasher piece so that it is removable. This allows you to move it to the side if you need the center section for larger dishes.
Check that nothing is blocking the spinner. Push both racks in and use your hand to spin the wash spinners. They should move freely. If the spinners hit any tall plates or utensils, your dishes will not come out clean.
Place pots and pans in by themselves. Pots and pans are large and often block dishes on the upper racks so that they do not get as clean. Use the pots and pans setting on your Maytag dishwasher.
Clean your dishwasher once a month. Maytag recommends a monthly cleaning of your dishwasher. To do this, fill a cereal bowl with 1/4 cup of vinegar. Place the bowl on the top rack, facing up, while you run your dishwasher. This will remove any hard water or detergent buildup from the machine.
- Do not overfill your machine; this will keep dishes from getting clean. Keep the Jet-Dry canister full to soften water.
- Maytag recommends avoiding liquid detergents or gel packs. These can cause buildup in the sprayers and other parts.
