How to Remove Ink and Marker From Leather

Having kids and a luxurious leather sofa often do not mix. If they're doing their homework on the couch and drop an ink pin, it can leave what seems like an impossible stain. However, there is a simple way to remove that pesky ink or marker stain from your beautiful leather couch.

Take quick action if you get an ink stain on your leather furniture.

Step 1

Dip a rag in some soapy water and blot it on the ink stain. Especially if it's fresh, this may be all you need. If it doesn't work, move to the next step.

Step 2

Dampen a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol. Apply a little bit in an inconspicuous place to make sure it won't discolor the leather. If it doesn't, rub the cotton ball over the ink stain and it should remove it.

Step 3

Apply a leather conditioner over the cleaned area. Follow manufacturer's instructions.

Things You Will Need

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Rag
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton ball
  • Leather conditioner

Tip

  • Test sunblock on an inconspicuous area of the sofa.
