How to Clean a Silpat

The Silpat is a non-stick baking mat designed to be used on top of a traditional baking sheet.

When using a Silpat, no grease is necessary and removing baked goods from the sheet is quick and easy. This flexible silicone mat is easy to clean and store, but should be handled with care to preserve the non-stick quality of the sheet. Cleaning a Silpat is a simple process that can be done with plain soap and water.

Wait for the Silpat to cool if used recently, then wipe with a damp sponge.

Apply non-abrasive soap, if necessary.

Rinse with warm water to remove soap residue. Dry, then store the Silpat flat. Do not bend or fold.

Things You Will Need

  • Soap Sponge Warm water

Tip

  • An oily residue may be left on the Silpat after cleaning, and discoloration is normal.

Warning

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or sponges as these will damage the Silpat. Do not fold the Silpat or store folded.
