Draw the outline of your desired plywood decorations onto a large sheet of paper. Make this drawing actual size.
Cut out the shape. This is the pattern for your plywood lawn decoration.
Attach the paper pattern to a piece of 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch thick plywood with temporary spray adhesive.
Cut the plywood with a jigsaw along the outer edge of the paper pattern. Peel away the paper pattern from the plywood.
Sand the plywood lawn ornament with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth any rough spots.
Apply one coat of exterior latex primer to the front, back and sides of the lawn decoration with a paintbrush or paint roller.
Paint the plywood with exterior latex paints to add detail to the ornament or paint the entire ornament black to create a silhouette style ornament.
Place a metal conduit, or hollow metal tube, on the back of the plywood lawn ornament. Arrange the conduit so that it nearly reaches the top of the lawn ornament and still extends approximately 1 foot from the bottom of the ornament.
Arrange a two-hole conduit strap over the conduit near the top of the lawn ornament. Attach by inserting a wood screw into each hole and screwing it into the plywood to hold the conduit firmly in place. Repeat this process to attach a second conduit strap near the bottom of the ornament.
Place the lawn ornament on your lawn in the desired location and gently tap the top of the metal conduit with a hammer to drive it into the ground.
