Turn off the power supply to the jacuzzi bathtub. Mixing electricity and water is extremely dangerous so make sure not to skip this essential step.
Purge your jacuzzi tub to make sure that there is no bath residue left on the jets. Fill the tub with hot water up to 2 inch higher than the highest jacuzzi jet. Pour half a liter of bleach and a few drops of dishwater detergent into the tub. Turn on the jets and let the jets run for 20 minutes. Drain the water out of the tub.
Place one end of a garden hose inside the jacuzzi tub attached to a submersible pump. Make sure to place the pump in the deepest point of your jacuzzi tub. Place the other part of the garden hose in the area where you wish to drain the water to.
Turn on the submersible pump to drain your jacuzzi tub. Make sure your hands are absolutely dry when turning on the pump. It usually takes up to half an hour to completely drain a hot tub. When the process is finished, turn off the pump and remove it from the bathtub. If you don’t have a pump, use the simple gravity method. Use the same garden hose, placing one end in the bottom of the tub, start a siphon, and place the other end in a lower place where you want the water to drain to.
Scrub the bottom and the sides of your jacuzzi hot tub with a scrub pad and a strong bathroom cleaner. Since there will be about ½ inch water left after draining, that amount will be enough to lubricate the pad during the cleaning and scrubbing process. Be very careful when choosing a cleaning solution. Strong bathroom chemicals might damage the shell of the jacuzzi but cleaners that are too mild won’t get the job done. Stick to a regular bathtub cleaning solution for best results.
Disinfect the shell of the jacuzzi by wiping it with a soft sponge dampened in chlorine bleach. Make sure to work your way around all the water jets.
Rinse off all the cleaners and chemicals with a towel dampened in water. Wipe the whole inside surface of the jacuzzi and be sure not to miss a spot. Use the damp towel to clean around each of the jets as well.
Wipe the inside of the jacuzzi with a soft towel to dry it completely. Wait 15 minutes after wiping the shell to ensure the whole jacuzzi is dry and ready for waxing.
Apply a small amount of hot tub wax on a clean cloth and rub it into the jacuzzi shell. This will polish the surface of the shell and give it a shine. Don’t rub the wax too close to the nozzles.
Cover the jacuzzi with its spa cover to keep it clean.
