How to Clean the Outside of a Stainless-Steel Gas Grill

Stainless-steel gas grills provide a modern, stylish look for your grilling area. Stainless steel is made with a small amount of chromium. The added chromium creates a chromium oxide layer on the surface of the steel that resists corrosion, rust, scratching and heat. When your grill becomes soiled from cooking or bad weather, the residue can mar its appearance. Clean the outside of your grill after every use to keep it looking its best.

Step 1

Turn off the grill and allow it to cool before cleaning.

Step 2

Dampen a cloth with warm water and wring it out. Apply two or three drops of mild dish detergent to the cloth. You can also use stainless-steel cleaner according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 3

Wipe the outside of the grill with the cloth, concentrating on soiled areas. Follow the direction of the grain.

Step 4

Rinse the cloth with water and wring it out.

Step 5

Wipe the grill with the damp cloth to remove any detergent residue. Follow the grain.

Step 6

Dry the stainless-steel grill with a clean towel.
