Unplug the smoker's power cord from the electrical outlet and wait until the appliance is cool and safe to touch.
Open the door or lid of the smoker, depending on the model style, to remove the cooking grates inside.
Set the cooking grates into a sink full of warm, soapy water. Scrub the grates clean with a nylon scrubbing pad or brush. Use a non-abrasive cleaning power for stains, as needed. Rinse the grates thoroughly and dry.
Wipe down the smoker exterior with clean rags dampened with a mix of water and liquid dish soap.
Scrape the interior bottom of the cooking chamber with a plastic putty knife to remove grease and other cooking debris. Sop up the accumulated grease with paper towels.
Sweep up ash from the heating/smoking chamber using a whisk broom and dustpan.
Replace the cooking grates inside the smoker and set the protective cover over the appliance until it's time for the next use.
