How to Remove Wires From a Fluorescent Lampholder
Fluorescent bulbs shaped like incandescent bulbs use pins to connect to a fluorescent lampholder. The lampholder is connected to the home’s electrical lines in much the same manner as that of a conventional light fixture. You can remove the wires from the fluorescent lampholder so that it can be removed. Tools commonly found in most households are required, as is a basic understanding of how electricity works.
Turn on the switch that controls the fluorescent lampholder. Go to the fuse or circuit breaker box, and either pull the fuse or turn off the breaker switch that controls the circuit to which the fluorescent lampholder is connected. Confirm that the fluorescent light is now off before continuing.
Turn the fluorescent light switch off. Place a ladder beneath the fluorescent light. Twist the fluorescent lamp as you pull its pins out from inside of the fluorescent lamp holder. Place the lamp aside.
Remove the screws from around the fluorescent lamp holder mounting plate using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the mounting plate off the ceiling.
Remove the screws from the sides of the fluorescent lampholder using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the fluorescent lampholder free of the ceiling.
Loosen the screws on the back of the fluorescent lampholder using the Phillips-head screwdriver. Unwind the ends of the wires coming out of the hole in the ceiling from around the screws. The fluorescent lampholder can now be removed from the ceiling.
