Gree 12000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner User Guide

Pamela Gardapee

The Gree 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner makes cooling a room a little easier than having to install a large window air conditioner. The portable unit is on rollers, which makes it easier to move from room-to-room. The 12,000 BTU unit cools a room or an area that is 450 to 550 square feet.

Exhaust Hose

The hose that comes with the Gree portable air conditioner is attached to the front exhaust adapter, which is then attached to the exhaust outlet on the back of the unit. The rear exhaust hose adapter attaches to the other end of the hose. The sliding window panel fits inside the window frame, so the window closes down on top of the panel to secure it in place. The window kit adapter attaches to the sliding panel. The rear adapter attaches to the window adapter on the sliding panel. When connecting the hose to the unit and the window slide panel, keep the hose as straight as possible or only use 90-degree angles to prevent a decrease in efficiently.

Running the Unit

The Gree portable air conditioner must be on a level, flat surface. Plug the power cord into an outlet and do not use an extension cord. The power button on the unit will turn it on and off. If you are using the remote control, you will press the “On/Off” button on the remote.

Modes

Run the air conditioner in different mode settings. Using the “Mode” button on the unit or the remote, allows you to cycle through the available settings. Each time you press the “Mode” button, a new function is displayed. The mode you stop on is how the unit will operate until you change it to a different mode. The modes available are fan only, dehumidifier and air conditioner. If you have model number SG-PAC-12E1HP, you have the heater function, which displays as well.

Temperature and Moisture Bucket

The temperature control on the unit or remote control allows you to set the temperature. Press the arrow “Up” or “Down” to set the temperature. The temperature control only works for heating and cooling. When the bucket inside the unit that collects the excess moisture is full, the “Bucket Full” light turns on and you will hear eight beeps. When you look at the unit, you will see “H8” displayed on the LED screen, which indicates the bucket is full and must be emptied. Turn off the unit and place a small bowl or pan under the drain on the bottom backside of the unit. Open the bottom drain plug so the water drains out.

Filter

Every two weeks or once a month, you must clean the filter on the backside of the Gree 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner. Wash the filter in warm water to remove the dirt and dust. Dry the filter before placing it back into the unit. Failure to keep the filter clean will reduce the efficiency of the unit.
