How to Clean a Cork Bulletin Board

Charlotte Johnson

A cork bulletin board can be a very useful item for the home or office. It's soft, porous texture allows for sticking and pinning of notes, pictures and letters without damaging the surface of the board. Over time, however, cork bulletin boards can accumulate dust, dirt and even stains.

You can clean a cork bulletin board with mild soap and water.

It is important to clean your cork bulletin board properly in order to prolong its life and keep it attractive and in optimal condition.

  1. Scrape off any stuck-on debris such as gum or dirt with a blunt knife, like a butter knife.

  2. Mix 1/4 cup of dish soap with one quart of warm water. Add 1/4 cup white vinegar as well to remove any germs or foul odors.

  3. Dip a sponge or rag into the solution and wring it out. Use the sponge or rag to gently wash the surface of the cork bulletin board.

  4. Dry the board gently with a soft, dry rag or towel.
