Best and Easiest Way to Wash Mini-Blinds
Mini-blinds can be attractive window coverings, but they also can be a pain to clean. Over time, dust and dirt become lodged on the main surfaces of the blinds' slats, as well as in their cracks and crevices. This debris not only makes them look dingy, but it also can aggravate allergies.
While regular dusting can help to maintain the appearance of mini-blinds, you will need to wash them occasionally. Using the right technique to clean your blinds can save you time and energy.
-
Remove your blinds from their bracket.
-
Lay them flat in your bathtub.
-
Fill the tub with enough warm water to cover the blinds.
-
Add 1 to 2 cups of white vinegar to the tub and let the blinds soak for 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Swish the water around in the tub with your hand. This usually is enough to remove dust and dirt from the blinds. However, if you still see any residue on them, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to reach these areas.
-
Rinse the blinds thoroughly under running water.
-
Hang your blinds to dry.
