How to Get Sticker Residue Off of a Leather Jacket

Mel Frank

If a sticker adheres to a leather jacket, it is important to safely remove it -- in a manner that gets rid of the sticker and all adhesive without damaging the underlying leather surface. Do not use any sharp objects that could slice the leather during sticker removal.

Get stickers off leather jackets by using vinegar.

Instead, use a natural element that safely breaks up the sticker adhesive.

  1. Drizzle white vinegar over a paper towel, and place the damp paper towel over the sticker for 5 minutes.

  2. Remove the paper towel, and peel away the sticker. If it does not easily peel off the leather, re-wet the paper towel with vinegar, and place it back over the sticker for another 5 minutes. Repeat as needed, until the sticker peels off with ease.

  3. Rinse a clean paper towel under water, and rub it over the area to remove any leftover vinegar solution.

  4. Drizzle the corner of a cleaning rag with leather conditioner, and apply it to the leather jacket to restore moisture. Rub the conditioner in well, and let the leather air dry.
