How to Get Super Glue off a Quartz Countertop

Super glue comes off countertops with a little chemistry and elbow grease.

Quartz surface is an engineered stone, consisting mainly of natural quartz and is a nonporous surface, making it easier to clean and maintain than natural stone.

1. Test the acetone on a hidden area of countertop to ensure it does not damage or discolor the finish.

2. Saturate the super glue with acetone. This solvent will help break down the cyanoacrylate adhesive.

3. Hold the razor scraper at a 45-degree angle to the countertop and scrape the area where the super glue spill is. Repeat this motion as the glue begins to flake and peel up.

4. Reapply the acetone to the super glue as necessary during the process. Continue scraping until all the glue is removed.

5. Wait for the last of the acetone to evaporate from the quartz, then clean and polish your countertop.

Tip

If the acetone discolors the finish of your countertop when you test it, it is possible, though more difficult, to simply scrape the super glue off the quartz using the razor scraper.

Warning

Acetone is a highly flammable, highly volatile solvent. Always wear gloves and goggles when working with it.
