Things You Will Need
Tarnish is not only unattractive, but also affects the flavor of foods cooked in the pots. You can remove tarnish with a few common kitchen items.
-
Combine 2 tablespoons of cream of tarter with 1 quart of water or combine 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and a sliced lemon with 1 quart of water. For pots larger than 1 quart, make enough liquid to cover the tarnished portion, but preserve the ingredients ratio.
-
Pour the mixture into the aluminum pot.
-
Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Allow the mixture to boil for 20 minutes.
-
Rinse the pot to remove residue.
-
Dry thoroughly with a towel.
