PVA glue is popular because it has an ability to adhere to many different surfaces while not being toxic or giving off fumes.

Apply a generous amount of PVA glue to the surface of whatever you are gluing. Lay the other item on the glue. Get a wide coverage of glue, as PVA glue does not have incredibly strong adhering powers. The more coverage you provide, the stronger the bond.

Wipe off any excess PVA glue with a wet towel or rag. PVA glue is water soluble, so a wet rag will cleanly remove anything that has found its way outside of the boundary. PVA glue is more difficult to clean once it has dried, so clean while wet whenever possible.

Place pressure to the two surfaces you are adhering together. This is known as clamping and increases the likelihood that your bond stays strong and firm, since it removes air pockets from between the two surfaces.

Allow your creation to sit for up to an hour. Depending on how much glue you used and what the items are, this will differ. For example, when using wood glue, users are advised to let the glue set for several hours.

Put the glued items in a well ventilated area. Air circulation helps PVA glue dry faster and adhere stronger. Placing the item outside or on a counter is best.
