Use a gentle, mild abrasive liquid cleaner with a cloth or wet sponge to clean the entire surface. Use a circular motion to remove residue, hard water stains or film that may be on the surface of the solid surface.

Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a clean towel. Check to see if minor surface scratches or cuts have been polished away. Continue with the steps below if deeper cuts or scratches remain.

Purchase a solid surface sponge cleaner made specifically for your countertop for removing deeper scratches and cuts. Check with your manufacturer to see where you can purchase one. It should have a more abrasive side and then a finer grit on the other side of it, or finer grit sanding pads available.

Wet the section and surrounding area where you need to polish away the cuts and scratches as you'll want to blend in the repaired area with the rest of the countertop.

Begin sanding back and forth lightly using the more abrasive pad on the wet surface, then turn and sand at 90 degrees, and repeat until you begin to see some progress as the scratch or cut begins to smooth away.
