How to Access the Belt in a Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer

David Clair

Whirlpool Cabrio dryers are designed to be energy and resource efficient. They have a steam cycle used for refreshing clothing. The belt inside the dryer allows the drum to tumble, drying laundry much more quickly than it would if the drum could not rotate.

Whirlpool Cabrio dryers are designed to be energy and resource efficient. They have a steam cycle used for refreshing clothing. The belt inside the dryer allows the drum to tumble, drying laundry much more quickly than it would if the drum could not rotate. If the belt stretches out, breaks or otherwise stops functioning correctly, it will need to be replaced. The belt is connected to an idler pulley system within the dryer cabinet.

  1. Unplug the power connector from the wall outlet.

  2. Insert the tip of the flat blade screwdriver into the gap between the bottom front access panel and the side of the cabinet. Rotate the screwdriver to pry the panel away. Repeat on the opposite side of the panel.

  3. Lift the lower access panel away from the cabinet to remove it.

  4. Move the idler arm on the idler pulley toward the front of the Cabrio dryer to relieve the belt tension.

  5. Slide the belt off of the pulley system.
