How to Troubleshoot Aire-Flo Furnaces

Aire-Flo furnaces are gas operated, Energy Star rated, offer up to a 5-ton cooling capacity and a heating size range of up to 100,000 British thermal units, and have an aluminized steel heat exchanger. Aire-Flo furnaces should be installed professionally and can be expected to work well with basic care and maintenance. However, if problems happen with the furnace, some troubleshooting efforts may help find and resolve the issue.

Ensure the power is connected to the furnace if the furnace does not turn on or function. Turn the power switch “On” and wait for the ignition/blower control board to power up.

Look to see if the gas valves are turned on if the furnace is connected to power but is not heating properly. Turn the gas valve on if it is closed.

Set the thermostat to a temperature above the current room temperature. Wait a few minutes and take note of the error code on the display, if one occurs. If the LED display flashes once, this indicates the gas valve is turned off. Turn the gas valve back on. If it flashes twice or three times, this indicates that the pressure switch is closed. Locate and open the pressure switch, which is found above the black hoses near the drain on the unit. If the LED display flashes more than three times in a row, contact an authorized service technician for assistance.

Turn the manual gas control knob to “Off,” turn off the power and wait five minutes if the pilot light has gone out. Smell carefully for gas and leave immediately if gas is detected. Call your local gas company or fire station. If gas is not detected, turn the thermostat to the lowest possible setting and open the front access panel. Turn the gas control knob to “On” and close the front access panel. Restore power to the furnace and set the thermostat to a temperature above room temperature in order for the pilot light to ignite. Once the pilot light is lit, turn the thermostat to the desired temperature.
