How to Clean Out a Shark Steam Cleaner
Shark steam cleaners are compact and portable cleaners that can clean many surfaces in your home, including countertops, floors, sinks and windows. Tap water in some residential areas has a high amount of calcium, which could result in a white, scaley substance forming on the inside of the boiler tank.
The calcium deposits should be cleaned out of the tank every 10-15 uses to ensure proper operation of the machine.
-
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and let the steamer cool off.
-
Press down on the boiler safety cap and turn it counterclockwise to remove it from the boiler.
-
Measure 8 ounces of vinegar, pour it in the boiler and add 40 ounces of water. Let the cleaning solution sit in the boiler for approximately 8 hours. Do not put the safety cap back on the boiler.
-
Turn the steamer upside down over a sink to dump the solution out of the boiler.
-
Rinse out the boiler with water to remove any of the remaining solution left in the boiler.
Things You Will Need
- Vinegar
- Water
- Measuring cup
Warning
Do not run the machine while the cleaning solution is in the boiler. The vinegar will ruin the motor.
