How to Clean an Air Cooler
An air cooler is also known as a swamp cooler. It is not an air conditioner, as it only cools the air with water evaporation. You put water in the machine and it blows air across the water, evaporating the water and making the air cool as well.
Air coolers are ideal for climates that are warm and dry, since they add a lot of moisture to the air. Clean the filter and water basin in the air cooler after about every three months of use.
Things You Will Need
- Cloth
- 1 tsp. dish soap
- Towel

Unplug the air cooler from the wall socket.

Open the air cooler and remove the air filter and the water basin.

Fill a sink full of warm water and 1 tsp. dish soap. Place the water basin in the water and scrub it until clean. Rinse the water basin with clean water. Dry the basin with a towel.

Rinse the air filter off with clean water to remove any dust or debris. Allow the air filter to air dry completely.

Wipe down the exterior of the air cooler with a damp cloth. Place the water basin and air filter back into the cooler.
