How to Remove Water Spots from Chrome
The natural minerals found in hard water leave pesky water stains on household fixtures. If white vinegar and warm water has not worked for you, try this simple method of combining two common household softening agents to break down those hard water spots.
Shower and bathroom fixtures are the most common hard water havens, but this method will work on any chrome surface.
Things You Will Need
- Dishwasher rinse agent
- Fabric softener sheet
- Paper towels
- Microfiber cloth (optional)
Tip
For daily touch-ups, retain used fabric softener sheets and use them on fixtures for quick maintenance. After showering, use a microfiber cloth to wipe down all fixtures. This prevents water spots from developing.
Warning
Wear gloves if you have sensitive skin.

Place several drops of the dishwasher rinsing agent on a new fabric softener sheet.

Rub the fabric sheet over the chrome in a circular pattern. Cover the affected area several times.

Use a wet paper towel to rinse off the chrome. Use a dry paper towel or a microfiber cloth to dry and buff the fixture. If the shine has not returned, repeat the process until satisfied.
