It is one of the most durable hides among animal products; as such, it is used to make coats, vests, gloves and shoes that last for years. It is also softer to the touch than regular leather. Because of this soft texture, deerskin requires careful cleaning.
Things You Will Need
Washing by Hand

Mix cool water and a mild detergent such as Woolite in a small bowl.

Soak a clean white cloth in the soap-and-water mixture and gently rub at any stains or surface dirt on the gloves.

Squeeze the gloves between your hand and a clean towel to remove excess water. Do not twist or wring to dry, as this will damage the deerskin.

Allow to air-dry fully before returning to use.
Machine Washing

Set the washing machine on delicate cycle in cool water.

Add a mild detergent such as Woolite. Do not use bleach or other harsh cleaning products, as they will stain the surface.

Add the deerskin gloves and run the washing cycle. Do not wash with any fabrics with colors that may run. If possible, wash the gloves alone.

Allow to air dry, or run the dryer on an air cycle.
