Things You Will Need

  • Washing machine
  • Laundry detergent
  • Cloths
  • Soft-bristled brush

Fleece and Terrycloth Slippers

  1. Fill the washing machine with cold water and adjust it for a gentle cycle.

  2. Add detergent to the water, according to the detergent manufacturer’s directions.

  3. Remove any inserts or insoles you may have put in the slippers.

  4. Put the slippers in the washing machine.

  5. Close the washing machine lid and let it run the full cycle.

  6. Remove the shoes and place them in the dryer on low heat, until they are completely dry.

Knit, Tweed, or Sock Slippers

  1. Mix two drops laundry detergent with one cup of cold water. Mix until the water is sudsy.

  2. Dip a cloth into the soapy water and rub it over the surface of the slipper to remove dirt and debris. Rinse the cloth and apply more solution as needed.

  3. Let the slippers air dry. Don’t place them in direct sunlight or on a heat source, as it may change the shape.

Suede Slippers

  1. Soak a clean cloth in cold water. Wring out the cloth so that it is slightly damp.

  2. Rub the cloth over the slipper to remove surface dirt and debris. Rinse the cloth as often as needed, but always wring it out as much as possible.

  3. Brush the suede with a soft-bristled brush to revive the nap. Brush until the suede is dry.
