The foot pedals control the rubber tracks that propel the machine. A lever on the floor controls the plow blade located under the cab in front of the tracks.

Start the JCB 8014 by turning the ignition key, located on the control panel on the right side of the cab. Increase the engine's rpm by pulling back on the throttle lever on the control panel next to the ignition switch. Disengage the parking brake by pressing down on the parking brake button on the control panel.

Press down on the front of both foot pedals to propel the two tracks forward in conjunction. Press down on the back of both foot pedals to reverse the machine. Press down on the front of the right foot pedal to pivot the machine forward and left. Press down on the front of the left pedal to pivot the machine forward and right.

Press down on the back of the right pedal to rotate the excavator back and left, and on the back of the left pedal to rotate the machine back and right. Take your feet off the pedals to stop the machine from moving.

Tilt the left joystick left, to rotate the cab of the excavator left, and tilt it right to rotate the cab right. Tilt the left joystick forward to extend the boom out and away from the cab, and tilt it back to bring the boom in and toward the cab.

Tilt the right joystick forward to lower the boom, and tilt it back to raise the boom. Tilt the right joystick left to curl the bucket in and toward the cab. Tilt the right joystick right, to extend the bucket out and away from the cab.
