How to Install the Top Inside Control Panel Strip on a GE Monogram Dishwasher

Ashley Hay

General Electric's Monogram line of dishwashers have digital electronic soft-touch controls. A Monogram dishwasher's control panel, on the front of the appliance, displays the different wash cycles and settings available and indicates which ones are selected. Over time, a GE Monogram dishwasher's control panel may short out or malfunction, making the machine inoperable. Instead of replacing your dishwasher, replace the control panel: It's much less expensive. Accessing and replacing the control panel does not require much effort, and you can do it in a short amount of time.

Step 1

Flip the dishwasher breaker to the "Off" position at your electrical breaker box.

Step 2

Open your GE Monogram dishwasher's door.

Step 3

Locate and remove the screws along the top of the interior side of the dishwasher's door, using your screwdriver. Removing the screws will allow you to remove the cover that protects the control panel.

Step 4

Grasp the control panel cover from the front of your GE Monogram dishwasher and pull it away from the dishwasher. It will not come off completely, as there are wires attached.

Step 5

Unplug the ribbon wire that provides power to the control panel along with any other wires that may be attached. You can now remove the control panel cover from the dishwasher.

Step 6

Unscrew the screws along the control panel interface board and remove the board.

Step 7

Insert the new control panel interface board and screw it into place.

Step 8

Plug the ribbon wire, and any other wires you removed earlier, back into place.

Step 9

Replace the control panel cover and screw it back into place on the interior side of your Monogram dishwasher.

Step 10

Flip the appropriate breaker to your GE Monogram dishwasher to reconnect the power.
