How to Change the Drip Pan in a Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator
Whirlpool Gold refrigerators are some of Whirlpool's top of the line units. The Gold series is available in side-by-side, top-mount freezer or bottom mount freezer. The drip pan on the Whirlpool Gold sits at the bottom of the unit and collects the water that discharges through the drain tube during the defrost cycle. You may have the need to change the drip pan on your Whirlpool Gold refrigerator, which you can accomplish using a straightforward procedure that requires little time and effort.
Step 1
Unplug the Whirlpool Gold refrigerator's electrical cord from the wall outlet as a precaution.
Step 2
Grasp the front of the kick plate located at the bottom of the unit.
Step 3
Press the kick plate down slightly and pull it toward you; it should detach from the frame.
Step 4
Locate the old drip pan which will be rectangular in shape and resemble a small dishpan. The drip pan slides in and out on rails underneath the refrigerator. Pull the drip pan straight out toward you. Be careful when you remove the drip pan because there may be some water in it. Slide the new drip pan in the same location as the old one occupied and replace the kick plate. Plug the refrigerator's electrical cord back into the outlet.
