How to Change the Power Settings for a Maytag Microwave

Step 1

Enter the cook time on the numeric keypad on the front of the Maytag. For example, to cook for five minutes and 30 seconds you would press the 5, 3, and 0 keys only.

Step 2

Press the "Power Level" button.

Step 3

Press the number on the keypad corresponding to the desired power level. For example, press 8 to cook at the 80 percent power level.

Step 4

Touch the "Enter/Start" button on the keypad to begin cooking.

Tips

A Maytag microwave resets to 100 percent cooking power after the end of a timed cooking cycle. Doing nothing to the power setting means you'll cook at 100 percent of power.

The microwave adjusts automatically to 70 percent power after 25 minutes of cooking as a safety feature to prevent overcooking food.
