How to Clean a Dacor Gas Cooktop

Once you have installed a new Dacor gas cooktop, you will want to keep it in pristine condition for as long as possible. Older cooktops can also look brand new if cleaned daily, and keeping appliances clean extends their practical lifetime. A few minutes of cleaning will preserve that new look for many years.

Grates and Tray

Step 1

Disconnect the power cord from the outlet before cleaning.

Step 2

Remove the grates and spill pans. Clean the grates in soapy water using a clean rag. Normal dirt and grime that has not dried and hardened can often be removed easily.

Step 3

Eliminate stubborn stains from the grates and spill pans by scrubbing with a nonabrasive pad that has been soaked in a mixture of warm water and grease-cutting dish detergent. Dry the grate and spill pan thoroughly.

Burner Components and Igniters

Step 1

Remove the burner caps and burner rings from each burner assembly.

Step 2

Examine the igniter, the metal top and the base for dirt. Use a firm toothbrush to clean these areas. Water cannot be used to clean the igniter.

Step 3

Remove debris from the burner rings with a stiff wire or straightened paper clip. Use caution to not distort the shape of the ring holes.

Step 4

Clean the removed burner parts and bases with rubbing alcohol. Use a stiff toothbrush to loosen dirt and rinse the parts with clean water. Dry all parts completely before replacing on the cooktop.

Step 5

Replace all parts, and turn the burners on to test them. Reposition the components and check for dirt if the flame is uneven.

Stainless Steel and Other Surfaces

Step 1

Clean stainless steel with Dacor stainless steel cleaner. Apply the cleaner with a soft cloth and wipe to a shine.

Step 2

Use a mild detergent and water to clean stainless steel areas of the cooktop as an alternative to using the stainless steel cleaner. Rinse the surface using a clean moist rag, then dry with a lint-free cloth.

Step 3

Use mild detergent and water to clean brass, chrome and copper surfaces. Rinse off the the detergent mix, then dry with a lint-free cloth.

Knobs and Trim

Step 1

Remove the knobs by first setting them at the off position. Grip the knob and pull straight out.

Step 2

Wash the knobs using dishwashing liquid and warm water. Do not soak the knobs or place in the dishwasher.

Step 3

Clean the edges of the trim rings with a soft damp cloth. Avoid getting moisture behind the trim ring.

Step 4

Dry the knobs and replace them in the off position.

Warnings

  • Always have the burner knobs set in the off position while cleaning.
  • Never attempt to clean a hot grate.
  • Never steam clean the cooktop, as steam can penetrate electrical components and cause a short circuit.
