Step 1
Look at the surface burner knob. If the stove is clicking, this means the surface burner is in the "Lite" position. The clicking sound you hear is the sound coming from each of the surface burners preparing to light.
Step 2
Turn the knob counterclockwise to initiate a flame on the surface burner. Adjust the flame size by slightly turning the knob clockwise or counterclockwise. The clicking sound ceases as soon as the flame ignites.
Step 3
Turn the knob clockwise to the "Off" position if you do not want to turn on a flame. This also will stop the clicking sound.
